Weight Pulling - Demo - Tails on the Trails - September 20, 2008
Here's our demo booth and little weightpull chute: While the bulk of the crowd was off on their hike, I got both boys nails clipped for $5 each at the booth next door. Cinnabar was a wiggle worm, but good. I warned them that Sebastian ranged from a grade 1 (one person holding) to a grade 3 (3 people holding). It only took two of them, but the sounds from the big baby. Loud and long and he drew a crowd. You would've sworn he was being killed, but he was good in spite of his noise.
There were contests of different sorts all through the day:
They had a "for fun" dog show with the rescue Sibes:
The PA Sleddog Club had a mushing demo and tryout: Looks like a pretty nice rig, too!: The "midway" had various merchandise, as well as nail clipping, weightpull demo and more: There was lots for attendees to do. I've never seen so many Sibes, wow! I had Cinnabar in harness in front of the booth to shill. He was in his glory meeting all those dogs and all those people who needed to know he never gets any love. Probably about 25 or so dogs got harnessed up to try weightpull, with about 6 serious about getting into the sport. I had to use little harnesses, mid-size harnesses, Cinnabar's harness on a rottie and Sebastian's harness on a Newfie. We really had fun, and during a break, I ran Cinnabar up to the CGC testing area and the sweet boy passed his CGC test! Sebastian would pass everything except he'd be 50/50 on meeting another dog so I didn't test him. Maybe when he's 9 he'll be ready I think they raised a ton of money for the rescue. One gentleman insisted on paying me for a demo and I said just give the money to rescue, he said where? I didn't know, so I said, give me $5 and I'll give it to them. He gave me $10 and didn't want change, so I was able to give them another little extra in cash. This was a really well organized event. I told them if Missy can't do it next year, I'll be happy to fill in again.
